Finding Lladro Retired Figurines
It is often the case that when we are younger and chance upon a certain artifact in our house such as a figurine, we develop a sense of nostalgia when encountering or recalling these items. Unfortunately, by the time we grow up, these items may be long gone from the shelves of your regular store. It seems that it would take a miracle to find what you are looking for, after all these years. It is a good thing that Lladro retired figurines could be found online, if you know where to look. The retired items are obviously higher priced than those that are still being produced and stocked in a conventional shop, yet these provide a sense of satisfaction that may be unavailable in the newer figurines. Lladro has over a 50 year history, and it is understandable that certain figurines, while still beloved by some, would not merit continued production. These are nonetheless sought out and purchased by the eager buyer. Many would contend that Lladro does not produce figurines like they used to. This may be rooted in fact, or it may simply be a yearning for the past from one who has loved these figurines as a child. Either way, the retired figurines have a special character of their own. The Lladro Sleeping Beauty figurine is an amazing work that came about in response to the 1959 animated classic. It is a very rare work, which makes its amazing attention to detail and ability to capture the graceful dancing movements of the characters all the more precious to the beholder. It was discontinued in the 1990s but remains one of the most beloved figurines Lladro has ever produced. The 'team player' figurine is of a young child dressed up for football (or soccer), released during the hype of the 1994 World Cup in the United States. It was discontinued in 1999, and is a rare item today. Another popular figurine, arguably the most popular retired figurine, is the Society Member Limited Edition Clown released in 1985. These are very hard to find, and have fetched as high a price as $4,500. Not bad for something originally sold for $95. You do not have to think of these Lladro retired figurines as investments or even objects of nostalgia to appreciate the wonderful artistry involved. Their value is something that will stay around throughout time, as long as people have good taste for beautiful art work.
